Late rally lifts Panthers past Big Spring, 11-8

The Permian Panthers scored five times in the bottom of the sixth inning on Tuesday and then held on to claim an 11-8 victory over the Big Spring Steers in a non-district baseball contest played in Odessa. The 5-run outburst broke open a 6-6 deadlock and dealt Big Spring its sixth straight loss.

‘Dogs place 4 on 4-2A roster

The Coahoma High School Bulldogs had four players earn spots on the 2014 4-2A all-district basketball roster.
Junior Braxton Iden led Coahoma’s selections, earning a spot on the first-team all-district roster. He was among the Bulldogs’ top offensive and defensive players this season.

Lady Buffaloes place 4 on 6-A all-district team

The Forsan High School Lady Buffaloes had four players earn postseason honors earlier this month when the District 6-A all-district teams were announced. In all, 22 athletes were recognizes for the efforts by the coaches from the six teams in the district.

The Big Spring High School Lady Steers capped their 2013-14 high school basketball season recently by having three members of their playoff qualifying squad named to the District 4-3A all-district team. Garnering honors from the district’s coaches were Julianna Rodriguez, Dyrshae Vanderbilt and Diamonique Mayes.

Big Spring takes 7th at SA Boys’ Golf Classic

The Big Spring High School boys’ golf team turned in a stellar outing on Saturday at the San Angelo Boys’ Golf Classic on Saturday at the Quicksand Golf Course. The Steers finished seventh in the final team standings in the Blue Division with a team total of 694.
