Are you ready for some football? High school football, that is?
After weeks of practices and scrimmages, area high school teams play games that count starting Friday.
Crossroads area teams in action this weekend include:
â€¢ Big Spring vs. Kerville Tivy, 6 p.m. Saturday, San Angelo.
â€¢ Coahoma vs. Forsan, 7 p.m. Friday, Memorial Stadium, Big Spring.
â€¢ Kermit at Stanton, 7:30 p.m. Friday.
â€¢ Albany at Colorado City, 7:30 p.m. Friday.
â€¢ Garden City at May, 8 p.m. Friday.
â€¢ Sands at Rotan, 7 p.m. Friday.
â€¢ Borden County at Crowell, 8 p.m. Friday.

Texas kicker nails an 80-yard field goal
In late June, Coahoma ISD hired Fred Dietz to be the new Athletic Director and head football coach for Coahoma High School.
In his first opportunity as AD and head coach, the San Angelo native is looking to build upon the success of previous years and bring his new community together.
How did you your football career evolve into what it is today?
The Freeze, an Oklahoma softball team composed of 4 and 5-year-olds, is gaining national attention for playing ball in their Elsa gowns.
Led by Anthony Godwin and Gary Watkins, the Big Spring Steers were well-represented on the recently released All-District 2-4A baseball team.
The Steers, who finished the 2015 season tied for first in 2-4A, had 10 players receive all-district recognition.
Leading the way were Godwin and Watkins. Godwin, a junior, shared district most valuable player honors with J.P. Poe of Sweetwater, while Watkins, a senior, was named offensive MVP of the all-district squad.

The starting time for Game 2 of the Big Spring High School Lady Steers' best-of-3 playoff series with the Andrews Lady Mustangs has been pushed back by BSISD and AISD officials due to wet field conditions at Lady Steers Park.
The game will be played at 4 p.m. this afternoon (Saturday, May 9), BSHS head coach Howell Martin said in a release to media outlets. The game had been originally set to begin at noon.
Andrews took a 1-0 lead in the area playoff matchup on Friday night by claiming a 3-2 victory in Andrews.
Softball fans won't have any shortage of playoff games to attend this weekend as Big Spring, Coahoma and Forsan are all slated to begin three-game series in the area round.
Big Spring will face off with Andrews on Friday. Game 1 of the best-of-3 series will start at 6 p.m. Game 2 will be played in Big Spring, at noon, on Saturday. A third game, if needed, will be played 30 minutes following the conclusion of Game 2.
Forsan will open its series against Lockney on Thursday, starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Lubbock Cooper High School field. The teams will play Game 2 at 5 p.m. on Friday.
