Water seemed to be the topic of choice Monday morning, as the Howard County commissioners court held a public hearing on a number of proposed regulations designed to address the housing boom in the county created by the ongoing boom in the oil field.

While no one spoke against the changes, concerns regarding a regulation that would have any operator of a RV or mobile home park serving more than 14 water users designated as a public water source drew questions from several people in the audience.

April 30, 2013

ODESSA — An explosive nine-run seventh inning broke a 5-5 tie Monday at Odessa College as Big Spring shelled Fort Stockton, 14-5 to advance to area round of the playoffs.

Offensive output was a concern for BSHS Head Softball Coach John Sparks as he prepared his squad for postseason play, but the Lady Steers responded when it was needed most.

Tied at 1-1 after a RBI double by Mercedes Ruiz sent Ayana Gomez home in the top of the second, Big Spring's lineup took charge in the top of the third.
