Steve Coleman, 60, of Big Spring, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Trinity Memorial Park with Charles Childers, officiating.
The Big Spring boysâ€™ and girlsâ€™ powerlifting teams both turned in solid outings on Thursday at the annual Mustang Power Classic in Sweetwater. Both BSHS squads placed in the top 10 in their respective divisions.

Chris Wigington received an official nod from Big Spring Independent School District trustees to take over as superintendent of schools, receiving a two-and-a-half-year contract beginning Feb. 13 and running through June 2016 at a salary of $140,000 per year.
He was named as the lone finalist for the position in January and has served in the district for four years, three of those years as the secondary curriculum director and since August as the interim superintendent. He takes over a low-performing district that is under the watchful eye of the Texas Education Agency.

Anthony Lee Evans, who was only recently placed on the Texas Department of Public Safety's Most Wanted Fugitives' List, was apprehended without incident Thursday evening, Big Spring police officials said.

Dolly Shober, 74, of Big Spring died Sunday Feb. 9, 2014, at her residence. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.
She was born to Daun and Joe Ramirez Sept. 24, 1939, in San Saba, Texas. She was a longtime resident of Big Spring. She worked at Walmart until her retirement. She loved spending time with her family, her children and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed working her yard when she was able and was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.
Junior Ringener, 86, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Feb.12, 2014, in a Lubbock hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, Big Spring with the Rev. Elwin Collom officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 14, 2014, at the funeral home.
He was born July 12, 1927, in Lyndale, Texas, and married Virginia Glaspie Jan. 24, 1948, in Courtney, Martin County, Texas.
Rosemarie Speaker, 76, of Midland, formerly of Big Spring died Wednesday, Fe. 12, 2014, in a Midland nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family received friends Thursday, Feb.13, 2014, at the funeral home.
Rosemarie was born May 20, 1937, in Galesburg, Ill., and married Walter Speaker Oct. 12, 1979, in Big Spring. He preceded her in death Nov. 16, 1999.
Deborah Evans, 63, of Big Spring, died Sunday Feb. 9, 2014, at San Angelo Community Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Pastor William T. Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
She was born to Dorothy and Jasper McGruder in Boston, Mass., Oct. 1, 1950. She lived in Big Spring for more than 45 years, coming from San Antonio. She worked for the Big Spring Herald as advertising manager until retiring because of a medical disability. She was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church.
