Dorothy â€śDottieâ€ť Leffler, 69, of Big Spring, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at Myers & Smith Chapel with Pastor Carroll Kohl officiating.
Dorothy was born Sept. 26, 1944, to Anna and George Acton in Cascade, Idaho. She came to Big Spring in 1981 from Missouri. She married Jimmy Leffler on Nov. 22, 1981 in Big Spring.
Harold Etheridge Beaver, age 91, of Odessa passed away on Sept. 22, 2014 in Big Spring, Texas at the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez-Texas State Veteranâ€™s Home.
Harold was born Sept. 4, 1923, to Hubert H. Beaver and Rose Mae Sifford Beaver in Hunt, Texas. He graduated from Kerrville Tivy High School and in 1951 he graduated from Baylor University with a business degree. He served in the United States Air Corp from 1945-1947.
W.D. Scott of Dripping Springs Texas, formerly of Big Spring, died on Sept. 21, 2014.
He is survived by his wife Gloria, daughter Kelly, son-in-law Steve, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
In a meeting that took little more than 15 minutes, the new Big Spring Economic Development board members got acquainted, elected officers and approved the long controversial agenda action item of policy and procedures.
Overall, the director and new board members seemed ready to take care of business and move forward.
Even the circumstance of not having a board president took little more than a suggestion from EDC Director Terry Wegman to get the ball rolling.

Recent rainfall has helped to diminish the the threat of wildfires in the area but firefighter officials caution the public to stay diligent when it comes to fire safety.
â€śWe are in the best shape weâ€™ve been in probably the last 10 years right now for not having any wildfires, but when this dries out, weâ€™ve got maybe 30 to 40 days and then it looks like this year we are going to hit a quick freeze,â€ť said Howard County Volunteer Fire Chief Tommy Sullivan. â€śAfter that freeze, all this high fuel is going to die. Anytime you burn, you need to be careful.â€ť

Robert Baeza, 67, of Big Spring, died Saturday Sept. 20, 2014, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
He was born to Paz and Manuel Baeza on Aug. 26, 1947, in Marfa, Texas. He married Margarita â€śMargieâ€ť Rodriguez in Big Spring in 1964. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He worked for Pollard Chevrolet and Cadillac for 39 years.
Jolanda Salazar Flores, 57, of Big Spring, died Friday Sept. 19, 2014, at University Medical Center in Lubbock. She will lie in state Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Myers & Smith Chapel.
She was born in Libertyville, Ill. on Dec. 9, 1956, to Patsy and Albert Salazar. She was a longtime resident of Big Spring. She married Victor Flores in Big Spring in 1986. She was an active volunteer for the Holy Trinity Catholic Church Food Bank. She loved taking care of her babies and family. She also loved to cook.
LaVera Alexander, 94, of San Angelo, formerly of Big Spring, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at The Springs Alzheimer's Special Care Center in San Angelo. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring with her son, Jim Alexander, officiating.
LaVera was born July 10, 1920, in Hugo, Okla. to Fred and Annie Mae (Stewart) Hawkins and married Mack Gregory Alexander May 23, 1940, in Roscoe, Texas, where she grew up. Mack preceded her in death July 1, 1986.
Maria Heredia Olivarez, 70, died Aug. 31, 2014, at her residence in Lamesa. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Big Spring. A meal will be offered in the church hall after the service.
She was born Jan. 15, 1944, in Knott and married Francisco Olivarez.
