The new Colorado River Municipal Water District water reclamation plant is up and running, according to district officials, as the facility goes through a 30-day run to make sure all of the “bells and whistles” are operating as planned.
CRMWD Manager John Grant said the facility — located on the city's east side, near the municipal animal shlter — is fully operational and adding approximately 2 million gallons of reclaimed water to the district's raw water supply each day.
FORSAN — Although the amount of state money they will receive this year is yet to be determined, school trustees here will begin addressing budget matters for the coming fiscal year when they hold their regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the administration wing board room.
Specifically, the school board will begin looking at two areas which make up the lion's share of the budget — salaries and health insurance for employees.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. May 11, 2013 and 7 a.m. today:
• JUSTIN M. RAMIREZ, 25, of 710 Willia was arrested Friday on a warrant from another agency.
• SAMMEAL RAY GRAY, 29, of 1405 Settles was arrested Friday on a charge of disorderly conduct language.
• FRANKLIN LAMARR CURTIS, 47, of 808 W. Third was arrested Friday for having stood in roadway to solicit ride (contributions, employment or business).
• AMANDA JO MASSEY, 24, of 2438 Whitmire, Midland was arrested Friday on a charge of public intoxication.
Thomas S. App died April 23, 2013 of brain cancer in Kerrville, Texas, where he lived with his wife, Sherry Williams.
He was born Jan. 5, 1943 in California and grew up in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from Archbishop Hoban High School and Creighton University, then entered into the insurance business in Cincinnati, Denver, and Kerrville.
He was preceded in death by fhis ather, Bud App of Akron, Ohio.

Saturday will mark area residents' final opportunity to weigh in on municipal and school board elections, as polls open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. around the Crossroads community.
According to officials with the Howard County Elections Administrations, polls will be located at the following locations:
Coahoma Independent School District Races — Coahoma Community Center
Big Spring races — Dorothy Garrett Coliseum, on the Howard College campus
Forsan races and Precincts 205-208 — Forsan High School
Forsan Precincts 33, 304 — Elbow Elementary School
Annalise O'Connell received the President's Award as top student at SouthWest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf during the SWCID Awards Convocation Thursday evening.
The President's award is annually based on academic excellence, participation in all facets of student life, leadership in extra-curricular activities and college spirit, said Howard College President Dr. Cheryl Sparks, who presented the award.

• ANTONIO JARROD MOORE, 23, of Marlin Falls, Texas, was arrested Thursday on a warrant from another agency.
• CODY JAMES CALHOUN, 21, of 2102 S. Scurry, was arrested Thursday on a warrant for failure to maintain financial responsibility.
• ALFONSO GARCIA RAMOS JR., 26, of 2604 Dow, was arrested Thursday on a charge of violation of a protective order.
Jim Deel, 44, of Big Spring died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Jim Binnix, pastor of Midway Baptist Church, officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at the funeral home.
Jim was born Oct. 14, 1968, in Big Spring to Darrell Deel and Wanda Welch Deel. He loved to barbecue and fish. He was a great father, making the kids his whole life.
Opal Jean Magers, 80, of Big Spring died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Kristi Lee Manor Nursing Home in Colorado City. The family will receive friends 7 p.m. until 9 p.m Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. Officiating will be Pastor William T. Vaughn of Mt Bethel Baptist Church and Pastor Holston Banks of Shiloh House of Praise with burial at Trinity Memorial Park.
