Frances LaJuana Dennis, 82, of Stanton died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at her residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Evergreen Cemetery with Charles Dixon officiating.
William A. "Am" Fitzgerald, 93, of Big Spring died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, in an Odessa Hospice facility. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Floyd Morehouse, 82, of Big Spring died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, in a local hospital. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Zach Hernandez will represent Big Spring High School at this weekend's Texas High School Powerlifting Association state meet.
Hernandez, a senior at BSHS, will compete in the 123-pound category of Division 2 at the meet, which will be held at the Taylor County Expo Center.
He qualified for the state meet by placing second in his weight class at the recent THSPA regional meet in Sundown. His combined lift (adding totals from the bench press, squat and deadlift) was 875 pounds.

With water shortages possible — even probable during peak summer months this year — the city of Big Spring took a step toward conservation Tuesday night as the city council approved first reading of plans to help not only conserve water, but also to penalize those who waste the precious commodity.
COLORADO CITY — Billie Dunn, mother of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn, hired a lawyer Monday after being charged with hindering police investigators and possession of drugs.
Despite earlier reports by various news outlets that Dunn would no longer be speaking directly to the media regarding the ongoing missing-person case, the woman's attorney — John S. Young, based out of Sweetwater — said she will continue to discuss her daughter's disappearance, as long as legal counsel was present.
On March 30, 1973, all U.S. troops withdrew from Vietnam under the terms of the Treaty of Paris. This March 30, the Senate has encouraged Americans across the country to recognize Vietnam veterans for their sacrifice and demonstrate a warm welcome to these soldiers who returned from war to a politically divided country.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. today:
• CAROL THOMAS SCAGGS, 63, of 510 S. Benton, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
• KELLY BARNES MCELYEA, 49, of 1103 W. Fifth St., was arrested Tuesday on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
• JOSE ANGEL URIAS, 18, of 206 Simer Rd., was arrested Tuesday on a charge of possession of marijuana in a drug free zone – more than two ounces, less than four ounces.
