More than five years — and $25 million — after announcing their plans to renovate the historic downtown Settles Hotel, Big Spring natives Brint and Kristopher Ryan may be close enough to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
However, after plenty of missed deadlines already behind them, Kris Ryan, general manager of the Settles Hotel Development Company and overseer of the restoration project, said any projected completion date is a nightmare just waiting to happen when dealing with a project of this magnitude.
No school, but this time it wasn't because of ice and snow.

A Tribute by her children
Mary Ferrell was a gentle, compassionate lady who selflessly and continually gave of herself. She blessed others through her acts of kindness, her kind words and her baking. She spread joy to loved ones and strangers alike by caroling each Christmas season, by spending time in visitation with those in need of encouragement and cheer, and by sending cards to those who God placed on her heart. She gave with quiet enthusiasm and compassion while neither drawing attention to herself nor expecting anything in return.
