FORSAN — School district trustees here will consider improvement to district-owned housing when they hold their regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the administration building board room.
Forsan Independent School District currently provides 14 houses on a reduced-rent basis to administrators and other extra-duty personnel such as coaches and band directors. But age is starting to catch up to those dwellings, Superintendent Randy Johnson said.
Big Spring Police Department officers are searching for suspects who committed two early-Friday morning robberies in east Big Spring.
A taxi driver and 7-Eleven store clerk were robbed at gunpoint between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. Thursday, according to information released by BSPD Public Information Officer Tony Everett.
Howard County commissioners will likely seek bids to improve lighting at the county library when they hold their regular meeting at 10 a.m. Monday on the third floor of the courthouse.
County Judge Mark Barr said poor lighting in some areas of the library — such as the children's area — is a cause for concern.
“Those areas (of the library) are pretty dark,” he conceded. “If we're going to do something about it, we need to make sure we do it right.”
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity Friday and early Satuday:
• JOE LOPEZ BERNAL, 49, 1106 E. 15th, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated/third or more offense.
• ELIDA HERNANDEZ, 52, 1106 E. 15th, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
• DANNY ZAMBRANO, 41, 1502 Sycamore, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
• VIRGINIA MARTINEZ ZAMBRANO, 40, 505 S. Goliad, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
• ASHLEY LEE RAMOS, 26, 505 S. Goliad, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
Susan Ann Cassidy, 53, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011. Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Bell Ave. Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Logan, pastor, officiating.
Della Annie Davis Brooks, 93, of Loop, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at her daughter's home in Coahoma. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at the Loop Baptist Church in Loop, with Brother James Shelton, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Loop Cemetery.
Kathy Barg, 61, of Big Spring died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Memorial services will be at 1:45 p.m. Sunday at East Side Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Shelley and the Rev. Jeff Davison officiating.

COLORADO CITY — The search for 13-year-old Hailey Darlene Dunn, missing for more than a week, continued Thursday with help from the FBI and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers.
A DPS helicopter assisted in the search Thursday afternoon, officials said.
Meanwhile, Hailey's mother, Billie Jean Dunn, told CNN television personality Nancy Grace that both she and her boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, had failed polygraph tests. She alluded that both she and her boyfriend had been on medication, which may have skewed the results.
There is definitely anticipation in the air at Howard College this year.
Trepidation, too.
As Howard heads toward a notable anniversary, officials say there's much to celebrate in 2011, but there's a few things to worry about, as well.
Chief among the worries facing Howard is the “state of the state” — how the economic downturn will effect the amount of state financial aid the college receives.
Big Spring girls’ basketball coach Mike Warren knows not many are picking the Lady Steers to win District 5-3A. The “favorites” title belongs to their opponents at 6 p.m. today at Abilene Wylie.
Warren is more comfortable in the role of spoiler and believes his team has a chance to turn some heads,too.
“I think it’s up for grabs and I think Wylie’s going to get beat,” he said of how District 5-3A might play out. “I think anything can happen. I think Brownwood can knock off Wylie and we can, too. I think it’s important to win your home games and defend your home court.
