Frances Clark and Jay Smith, both of Big Spring exchanged vows April 14, 2012, at a 4 p.m. ceremony at Trinity Baptist Church. Pastor Randy Cotton officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Bill Clark of Big Spring and Diann Armstrong of Dilley, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Howard and Pearl Armstrong of Ackerly and Julie Spencer of Oregon.
The groom is the son of Johnny Smith of Big Spring and Mendy Cother of Sierra Vista, Ariz. He is the grandson of Ela and Robert Reynolds of Childress, Texas and Venita and Chuck Houston of Amarillo.
Mike and Ginger Logsdon and the late Vicky Logsdon, of Coahoma, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Sandy Logsdon to Randy Childress, of San Angelo.
Randy is the son of Susan Childress, of San Angelo and Kathleen and the late Dwain Childress of Grape Creek.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Bonnie and the late Bill Logsdon of Coahoma and the late Margaret Bonar of Big Spring.
Halie Dawn Schaefer of Garden City and James Thomas Marlow of Big Spring announce their engagement.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Douglas and Karen Schaefer of Garden City.
She is a 2008 graduate of Garden City High School and a 2012 graduate of Angelo State University.
The prospective groom is the son of Thomas Marlow Jr. and Theresa Marlow, both of Big Spring. He is a 2008 graduate of Forsan High School. He is employed at H-E-B.
The couple will exchange wedding vows Aug. 4, 2012, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
As temperatures heat up, many area residents will turn their attention to local lakes and swimming pools to try to keep cool. However, according to officials with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, fun in the water can quickly turn deadly without proper supervision.
The DFPS is kicking off a new campaign this year aptly named â€śWatch Kids Around Water,â€ť which includes a summer-long ad campaign to help educate the public on the importance of supervising children around water, safety tips and other valuable information
Big Spring Independent School District will hold summer school for elementary and secondary students beginning Monday and running through June 28.
Classes will be held Mondays through Thursdays, school officials said.
Elementary students will attend classes from 8 a.m. until noon at Goliad Intermediate School, while secondary students will attend classes from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Big Spring Junior High School. Breakfast and lunch will be served free of charge at both campuses.

â€˘ CODY DEJUAN HAWKINS, 29, of 810 Cherry, was arrested Thursday on a warrant from another agency.
â€˘ SHIMEON RASHAD MAGERS, 28, of 1511 Tucson, was arrested Thursday on warrants for failure to maintain financial responsibility (three counts), failure to appear (12 counts), failure to display driver's license, driving without a safety belt (two counts), expired registration and five warrants from other agencies.
LaDell Musgrove, 73, of Big Spring died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at her residence. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 4, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Jim Wilkerson and the Rev. Pat Ray Jr., officiating.
She was born June 11, 1938, in Boswell, Okla., and married Thomas Jerry Musgrove Sr. Jan. 15, 1954, in Big Spring. He preceded her in death Feb. 23, 2009.
LaDell owned and operated Dell's Cafe from 1974 to 1989. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
The legendary Man of Steel will take Scenic Mountain and the Big Spring State Park by storm Saturday, as the Big Spring Film Society screens the 1978 classic â€śSupermanâ€ť atop the local landmark.
With the film expected to begin at dusk, Film Society Chairman Brandon Johnson said the screening will kick off the group's summer series.
Improvements to the city's infrastructure took the spotlight Tuesday night as members of the Big Spring City Council presented pet projects they would like to see addressed in the city's 2012-2013 budget.
The council heard a presentation from City Manager Gary Fuqua during the special meeting regarding the city's accomplishments during the past fiscal year, as well as some of the major challenges the municipality will be facing when it begins the arduous task of preparing the coming year's budget.
