Dimas Young, 70, of Big Spring died Friday, June 8, 2012, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
She was born March 26, 1942, at Uvalde, Texas, to Juanita and Bonifacio Gonzalez. She was a homemaker and a Catholic. She was a lifetime resident of Uvalde until moving to Big Spring six months ago.
Annette â€śAnitaâ€ť Hilario, 54, of Big Spring, died Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Martin County Hospital in Stanton. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Early voting for the June 23 Big Spring Independent School District run-off election begins Monday, officials said.
BSISD District 2 incumbent Maria Padilla, seeking her fourth term on the school board, will face challenger Pat DeAnda in the run-off. In the May 12 municipal election, Padilla received slightly more than 39 percent of the vote total, compared to Deanda receiving 37 percent.
Because neither candidate claimed a majority, a run-off was ordered.
Only those voters residing in BSISD District 2 will be eligible to cast ballots.
Howard County commissioners are expected to discuss and possibly take action on a new notification system that could have Crossroads residents looking to their cell and smart phones for more than just 911 in times of emergencies.
According to County Judge Mark Barr, emergency notification systems utilizing both voice and text messages have become very popular with other Texas counties when it comes to reaching residents in times of crisis.
FORSAN â€” Like just about everyone else, Forsan Independent School District officials are having to deal with increased insurance costs.
When FISD trustees hold their monthly meeting at 7 a.m. Monday in the administration wing board room, their main bit of business will be in deciding whether to absorb the latest increase in employee health insurance costs, or pass some of that hike on to staff.
Superintendent Randy Johnson said the increase in Level I (the most basic) health insurance coverage will be about $14,000.

â€˘ DONALD GENE KOERBER III, 25, of 500 McEwen St., was arrestee Friday on a charge of accident involving damage to vehicle more than $200.
â€˘ LETICIA CARRILLO FLORES, 33, of 1504 Lincoln, was arrested Friday on warrants for expired registration, no drivers license when unlicensed and fail to appear (two counts).
Wanda Janelle Spraberry Moore died June 6, 2012, at the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring, Texas.
Wanda was born Feb. 23, 1926, in Anson, Texas, to the late Raymond and Marie Spraberry. Wanda married William M. Moore Sr., Dec. 21, 1944. Bill preceded her in death in 1993.
They had four children, William Dallas, who died as an infant, Lu Bomar (and late husband, Darayld Bomar) of Denton, William M. Moore Jr. (and late wife Anne Moore), of Argyle and Teresa Warrington (and husband Dennis) of Big Spring; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Irene N. Mann, a former resident of Big Spring, died in the early morning hours of May 26, at the age of 100 years, 5 months and 12 days, in Granbury, Texas, at the Trinity Mission Health and Rehab Center of Granbury.
Prior to her two months at the nursing home, she was a resident of Charterhouse at Lake Pointe in Granbury for the previous eight years, near her daughters and sons-in law, Marilyn and Bob Satterwhite of Granbury and Marlene and David Dibrell of Dallas.

George C. Sloan, 82, of Big Spring, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 11, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Donita Lea and Bill Sloan, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sunday, June 10, 2012, at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 4, 1930, in Clarendon, Texas, and married Lola Thibodeau on June 27, 1956, in Big Lake, Texas.
