SNYDER â The Big Spring Lady Steers, who opened District 5-3A softball play last Friday with a win over Sweetwater, didn't fare as well on the road Tuesday, as Big Spring dropped to a 1-1 district record following a 3-1 loss to rival Snyder on the road.
What went wrong for BSHS?
According to Coach John Sparks, it all came down to mental discipline at the plate.
âIt was a defensive game,â he said. âWe made three errors, which put people on base. Then, (Snyder) manufactured the runs.â
SNYDER â Don't count out Big Spring in District 5-3A baseball this season.
Even though Snyder racked up nine runs in the first four innings of play, the Steers kept their collective cool Tuesday, bringing home a 12-10 win thanks to quality relief pitching and an offense that came to life in the later innings.
The Steers took the early lead, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning, but Snyder responded quickly, scoring nine runs over the course of three innings of play to put Big Spring in a substantial hole.
Remains have been found at the McMahon Wrinkle Airpark. Limited details are available at this time. The area has been marked off in order to preserve the scene. More information can be found in tomorrow's edition of the Herald.
