The timing just fell into place for Brad Burt, Travel Centers of America general store manager and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer.
Burt was sworn-in as a volunteer in January 2008 and has been working with the same case.
The work Burt has put in since becoming a volunteer has not gone unnoticed. He was honored with the best mentor award at the CASA volunteer appreciation banquet March 31.

Forsan and Coahoma High School tennis players have taken a variety of routes to today's Region I-2A Tennis Tournament in Odessa.
For the Coahoma doubles team of Aaron Gonzales and Jason Martinez, the regional tournament is the culmination of years of working together.
For Forsan's doubles team of Cheyenne Galloway and Rachael Haggard, success came much quicker.
And for Forsan singles players Kyle Stevenson and Sydney Holdampf, the trip to the regional tournament is just one more highlight in a season full of them.
After an up-and-down season, perhaps it was appropriate that the Big Spring Lady Steers earned a spot in the state softball playoffs by doing … nothing.
The Lady Steers, who were idle Tuesday, earned the third and final postseason berth from District 5-3A by virtue of Brownwood's 19-7 win over Abilene Wylie. If Wylie had defeated Brownwood, it would have ended the season tied with Big Spring and forced an extra game with the Lady Steers to determine the district's final playoff representative.
Firefighters with the Big Spring Fire Department and Howard County Volunteer Fire Department battled blazes around the intersection of Second Street and San Jacinto for much of Monday evening, as a structure fire ignited several grass fires in the area.
The structure fire, which was reported at approximately 5:30 p.m. at a home located behind the Big Spring Harley Davidson dealership, destroyed much of the home, including a shed and garage structure that housed several vehicles.
The CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer appreciation banquet proved to be an emotional experience for Big Spring resident and recipient of the Dedicated and Deserving Award, Ann Townsend.
Townsend attended the March 31 banquet not expecting to receive the recognition she did. She was one of the two Howard County CASA volunteers recognized at the event.
“It was the most humbling and biggest honor of my life,” Townsend said. “It was completely unexpected.”
A drop in classification and a move to a different regional site did little to deter five members of Big Spring High School’s University Interscholastic League Academic Team from qualifying for the state meet.
“We were a bit concerned about this year’s regional competition,” Academic Coordinator Jennifer Adams said. “We knew what to expect at the 4A Regional competition, and we knew that this year was going to be a whole different situation.”
The BSHS students qualifying for the state academic meet were:
