Nancy Arlene Reed, 61, of Stanton, formerly of Big Spring died Friday, April 6, 2012, at Hospice of Midland Inpatient Unit. Private family services will be held at a later date.
She was born July 10, 1950, in Hamlin, Texas, to Lou Dan (Branscum) Reed and Sam Houston Reed. She grew up in Big Spring. She had been a resident of Big Spring for more than 50 years. She worked for many years at Malone-Hogan Hospital and retired in 1989 from the Big Spring State Hospital after 17 years of service. She was a member of Godâ€™s Rainbow Promises in Midland, Texas.
Annalee Hillger Sims â€śMiMiâ€ť went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on April 7, 2012. She had a wonderful, warm and giving heart. She has a large family that continually grows with new members. She welcomed everyone she met with open, loving arms.
Faye Jean (Miss Faye) McGee, 54, of Big Spring died Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at her residence. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Myers & Smith Chapel with Pastor Holston Banks and Minister Kathy McGee officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at Hamlin East Cemetery in Hamlin, Texas.
Patsy Ruth Rowe-Humphries was born to B.G. â€śJackâ€ť Shepard and Patti Jewel Vernon March 24, 1926, in Dallas, Texas, and left this world with her loving husband, Jack, by her side April 7, 2012, at the age of 86.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Joey Bacon officiating. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery in Coahoma, Texas.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, April 9, 2012, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Easter may be the season of the bunny, but kids at Washington Elementary School were learning about horses last week.
Anne-Marie Lugo â€” an eighth grader at Forsan Junior High School â€” and her mother, Cindy, visited with the kindergartners about animal needs.
â€śThe students in Mrs. (Yvonne) Loya's class sent us a very nice letter and asked if we would come and speak to them,â€ť Cindy said.
During the afternoon presentation, Anne-Marie and her mother spoke about the basic needs of a horse, proper etiquette when around a horse and answered any questions the students had.
Museums are known to hold history, all kinds of history. Sometimes, they have the opportunity to tell a little of their own.
The newest exhibit at the Heritage Museum, 'Our Houses of History: Portraits of Rural Texas Museums,â€ť will do just that.
â€śOur former museum curator, Beth Williams Purcell, has compiled photographs displaying the history and importance of museums,â€ť said Tammy Schrecengost, museum curator.
The photographic display will open with a meet and greet reception with Purcell, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
