Vera Lee Brent, 90, of Big Spring, died on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at her residence. A private service will be held in Alma, Ark.

Funeral services for Clifton Ray Price of Lenorah, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Msgr. Tim Schwertner officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring.
Clifton passed away July 16, 2011, in Odessa, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Jan. 12, 1955, in Stephenville, Texas.
Barbara "Sue" Lambert, 73, of Stafford County, Va., passed away Monday, July 11, 2011, at her home.
She was born in Big Spring, Texas, Feb. 17, 1938, to Fred and Loma Gale Lay Merworth.
A celebration of her life was held for friends and family at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at her home.

â€˘ JOE AARON MAJOR, 32, of Orange, was arrested Saturday on charges of assault with an aggravated weapon (two counts) and possession of marijuana â€“ two ounces or less.
â€˘ JEFFERY JEROME WILLIAMS, 35, of Port Arthur, was arrested Saturday on charges of unlawfully carrying a weapon and public intoxication.
â€˘ AMANDA RENEE MCGREGOR, 23, of Lamesa, was arrested Saturday on a charge of public intoxication.
Applications for Leadership Big Spring 2011-2012, hosted by Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce, are being accepted until July 29.
The class focuses on introducing members of the community to the inner workings of Big Spring. It is a 10-month course designed to show new and old residents alike the different aspects of the community and direct them to the different ways of getting involved in the community.

In a continued effort to meet the 20 percent reduction in water deliveries, the city of Big Spring announced Friday it has implemented additional restrictions on water use.
The Big Spring City Council gave the go-ahead for additional restrictions Tuesday on the heels of a presentation by John Grant, general manager of the Colorado River Municipal Water District, who explained water levels in local reservoirs have reached critically low levels with no real relief in sight.

Registration times will be 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. July 27 and 7 a.m.-1 p.m. July 28.
The registration is for students enrolling in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes, as well as any student between the ages of 5 and 21 who resides within the district but was not enrolled in BSISD on May 27, said Vickie Cheyne, PEIMS Coordinator for the district.
