Doris Whirley McMorries, 83, of Tarzan, passed away Feb. 10, 2011, at her residence. Funeral services have been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Stanton with the Rev. Leandro Gonzales of First Baptist Church of Tarzan officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Francisca â€śKikaâ€ť Hernandez Parras, age 83, passed away Friday morning, Feb. 11, 2011. Rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at Nalley- Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
Martha Loveless, 49, of Big Spring, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Joey Bacon officiating.
Betty Jo Merworth, 78, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at her home. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Sidney Baptist Church in Sidney, with Kenneth Gibson officiating. Interment will follow at Sipe Springs Cemetery in Comanche County.
Raoul Robles Jr., 66, of Big Spring, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

ABILENE â€” The first quarter of Fridayâ€™s game between Big Spring and Abilene Wylie was a lot like the final minutes of the first game between these two squads.
Heartbreaking for the Steers, uplifting for the Bulldogs.
With a chance to win the District 5-3A crown at stake, Big Spring fell to Wylie 69-54 on the road and for the second time this season.
In the first Big Spring-Wylie meeting on Jan. 28, the Bulldogsâ€™ Lance Lindley hit a huge 3-pointer with 28 seconds left to lift his team past the Steers.
DENVER CITY â€” The Coahoma Bulldogs fell to Denver City Friday night on the road, 79-48.
The loss puts the Bulldogs at 3-10 in District 3-2A, while Denver City continues to rise.
Coahomaâ€™s Tanner Ruiz had 16 points. Coahoma has one more chance to end the season on a good note with Post visiting Coahoma at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral Services for Gus White Jr., 87 of Lamesa will be held Saturday Feb. 12, 2011, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lamesa with Bro. Clifton Igo officiating. Burial will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation was held Friday Feb. 11, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.
The Big Spring Steers have been openly talking about a District 5-3A crown since day one.
Tonight is their chance to make sure they get a shot at it.
The Steers face Abilene Wylie in the second matchup of the season at 7:30 p.m. in Abilene with a chance to be district champions on the line.
