The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 9 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. today:
â€¢ MELISSA GAY YOUNG, 41, of 1700 W. Third St., was arrested Saturday on a charge of public intoxication.
â€¢ DOMINICK RENE CERVANTES, 17, of 1900 Winston, was arrested Saturday on a charge of possession of marijuana â€“ two ounces or less.
â€¢ MATTHEW LUIS ALMAZAN, 24, of 3607 Dixon, was arrested Saturday on a warrant for no driver's license â€“ when unlicensed.
Following a meeting with officials from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, city and county representatives say the two local governments will be working together to keep the Big Spring State Park — which has been targeted for closure by the state — open and operating.
County Judge Mark Barr said Friday he feels like it's certainly a viable option for the city and county to work together to keep the facility, which has been a Big Spring landmark and tourist destination for many years, from falling prey to state budget cuts.
The agenda for Monday morning's meeting of the Howard County commissioners court includes a number of routine items, including discussion of county ordinances.
Precinct 2 County Commissioner Donnie Baker has asked that the discussion — centering around ordinances within the county — be placed on the agenda.
STANTON — A Martin County grand jury chose not to indict a Midland law enforcement officer involved in the January shooting death of a 54-year-old man following a standoff near Lenorah.
According to 118th District Attorney Hardy Wilkerson, the grand jury declined to indict the officer that shot and killed Lonny Martin following a brief chase on Highway 176 on Jan. 23.
Three Big Spring teenagers were arrested in Lamesa earlier this week on gun and drug charges following a routine traffic stop, according to law enforcement officials.
Anselmo Vega Jr., 17, was arrested on a charge of theft of a firearm Monday in the city of Lamesa, located approximately one hour northwest of Big Spring. At the time of this report, Vega was still in the custody of the Dawson County Jail.

â€¢In the 1600 block of Bluebird.
â€¢In the 300 block of Tulane Avenue.
â€¢ CRIMINAL MISCHIEF was reported in the 1200 block of E. 11th Place.
Lola V. Rodriguez, 75, of Big Spring, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at her residence. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.Â
