The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Monday and 7 a.m. today:
â¢ KRISTI LYNN SIX, 40, of Midland, was arrested Monday on a charge of driving while intoxicated â third or more offense.
â¢ RUBEN CISNEROS, 34, of Fort Worth, was arrested Monday on a warrant from another agency.
â¢ DANELLE CHRISTINE OVERTON, 23, of 1503 Lincoln, was arrested Monday on a charge of possession of marijuana â two ounces or less.
â¢ JESSE MARTINEZ, 42, of 107 Becker Rd., was arrested Monday on a charge of theft â shoplifting.
Lying on its side, the brownish gray bird struggled to pull itself toward the grassy median.Â Turbulence created by passing motorists sprayed fine bits of gravel and dust over its feathers and into its eyes. After reaching the edge of the asphalt, it could go no further.Â
Resting after such an effort, it did not hear the vehicle stop some distance behind it.
Surprised by the hands that suddenly pressed against its wings and heavy body, the bird used its large webbed feet to push against the manâs waist. With its long, sharp bill it nipped at his arms.
Lee Samuel "Sam" Burns, 82, of Houston died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, in a Houston hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Ackerly with the Rev. Ray McMorris, pastor, and Derrick Looney, pastor of Forsan Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Ackerly Cemetery.

Greenwood avenged a loss to Big Spring in Andrews, so the Steers will look to get back on track with a win at Abilene Cooper at 7:30 p.m. today. Luke Adams is gaining a reputation as the Steersâ go-to player. Head coach Cliff Thompson said opponents are starting to key in on Adams. The senior and Tristain Clay have led Big Spring in scoring so far this season.

Thousands of Big Spring residents were treated to a a mix of patriotism and holiday spirit during Saturday's 25th Annual Big Spring Herald Community Christmas Parade.
Despite blustery, cool weather, crowds lined Gregg and Scurry streets to view the more than 40 entries that constituted the lineup for this year's event.
âThings went great,â Herald Publisher Ron Midkiff said. âThe entries were really top-notch. I say this every year, but I really believe this was the most successful Christmas parade yet.â
Big Spring city officials will look to move forward with a possible election in May to revise the municipality's charter â including the addition of term limits and initiatives and referendums â Tuesday, as the charter review committee meets Tuesday evening.
Brought to the Big Spring City Council by newly elected Mayor Tommy Duncan, the city staff has been asked to research the possible use of term limits, initiatives and referendums in the Crossroads area.
With so many worthwhile causes trying to make the holiday season happy for people from all walks of life, Adult Protective Services is hoping area gift-givers will look to a slightly different demographic at Christmas.
Part of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Adult Protective Services began the "Be a Star" program this week, collecting Christmas gifts for the area's elderly and disabled.

â¢ ARLINDA ROSALES SMITH, 59, of 2002 S. Nolan, was arrested Saturday on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance.
James Melvin âJ.M.â Ringener was born Feb. 7, 1926, in Wellington, Texas, to Walter J. and Lela (Smith) Ringener. He died Dec. 2, 2010, in Lawton, Okla., after a lengthy illness. He was 84. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at Myers & Smith Funeral Home in Big Spring.
Fay Harrell, 93, of Big Spring died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Lynwod Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Levelland. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m.Â today (Monday) at Myers & Smith Chapel with burial at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
