Coahoma High School head coach Trey Gardner and Forsan head coach Jason Phillips had a lot in common on Friday night as they watched their two teams square off in season-opening “Howard Bowl.” Both were less than pleased with the way their team’s played. Mistakes. Turnovers. Penalties. Missed opportunities. In the end, however, Gardner had a little less to be unhappy about.

They got a little help from the officiating crew that overturned a fourth-quarter touchdown that would have given the Loboes a lead with just ovet 2 minutes to play.
Kyler Franks and Joseph Melendez both rushed for a pair of touchdowns and helped the Bulldogs reel off a convincing 38-7 rout of the McCamey Badgers on Friday in front of a large crowd at Bulldog Stadium.
