If the Big Spring Lady Steers ever get over their unfortunate tendency to give away runs, they could become a force in District 5-3A.
For the second game in a row, the Lady Steers dug themselves a hole too deep to climb out of, allowing six unearned runs in the first inning en route to dropping a 10-8 decision to Abilene Wylie in district softball action at the Big Spring ISD softball complex Tuesday.
When an early spring norther blows through town, there's no colder place to watch baseball than Steer Park, and such was the case Tuesday. Temperatures in the 40s — and wind chills even lower than that — had fans scurrying for coats, blankets and hot chocolate.
COAHOMA — When the Coahoma Bulldogs break out of an offensive slump, they don't fool around.
The Bulldogs exploded for 20 hits en route to a 21-6 rout of Denver City in District 3-2A baseball action Monday.
Just about everybody got in on the act offensively for Coahoma. Aaron Gonzales was 3-for-4 with a triple and double, Dakota Griffith and Adrian Grant each had grand slam home runs, Tanner Ruiz was 2-for-4 with two RBI and four runs scored and Keith Martin and Josh Castilaw each went 3-for-4 at the plate.
