26 indicted by grand jury

A former Howard County employee accused of tampering with government records was among 27 people indicted during this week's session of the county grand jury.

Jamie R. Weaver, 35, of Forsan, stands charged of two counts of tampering with a governmental record and two counts of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

Those offenses are third-degree felonies, punishable by a term of between two and 10 years in state prison. Weaver was a secretary to County Judge Mark Barr before she she was fired from the position in March 2010 for allegedly stealing money from the county's hot check fund, then altering the records to cover up the theft.
