39 Thoughts to play here Friday

April 1, 2013

Area residents will get the opportunity to hear an up-and-coming Christian rock band while also helping out the Big Spring Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, as the local charity looks to raise funds for its newly constructed computer room.
The Boys and Girls Club, which recently moved into its new building and gym located adjacent to the Salvation Army offices, will host Christian rock band Thirty-Nine Thoughts on Friday, according to program coordinator Heather DeElena.
“Our event is called 'Rock the Gym' and will feature Thirty-Nine Thoughts out of Lubbock,” DeElena said. “We are really impressed with them and what they do to get their message out to the youth. Also, they tithe 10 percent of what they make from their shows to the organizations they play for, which we felt was very much in line with the Salvation Army and what we're trying to do with the Boys and Girls Club.”
DeElena said the concert — which will be held in the facility's new gym, located at 811 W. Fifth St. — is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
“Tickets are on sale for $10 each here at the Boys and Girls Club,” she said. “We'll also be selling tickets the night of the concert for $13 at the door. We'll have refreshments for sale during the show and the band will be offering merchandise.”
Funds raised by the concert will go to purchase computers for the Boys and Girls Club computer room, according to DeElena.
