A.G. Martinez II, 85, of Big Spring died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Vigil services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Msgr. Bernard L. Gully and Deacon Victor Lopez officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.

He was born Dec. 13, 1927, at Encinal, Texas, to Eloisa and Adelaido Martinez Sr. He married Paula Munoz in 1945 in Big Spring. In his earlier years, he worked at Big Mike's Liquor and Allied Van Lines. He retired as head custodian at Big Spring High School. He was a resident of Howard County for 70 years and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Paula M. Martinez of Big Spring; six sons, Jack Martinez and wife Melanie of Cape Coral, Fla., Joe Martinez and wife Debra of Pecos, Fidel Martinez and wife Margie, Adelaido Martinez Jr. and Ricky Martinez, all of Big Spring, and David Martinez and wife Mikki of Elgin; three daughters, Yolanda Bryant and husband Ray and Lupe Pattin Hodges and husband Hubert, all of Big Spring and Mary Lopez and husband Deacon Victor Lopez of Midland; 32 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Janie Lownes; one granddaughter; four brothers; and four sisters.
