Alfred Franks, 81, of Stanton died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at the Evergreen Cemetery Chapel with the Rev. David Harp officiating.
Alfred was born July 2, 1931, in Midland, Texas, and married Margaret Flanagan March 7, 1953, in Stanton.
A longtime resident of Stanton, Alfred worked as a troubleshooter for Texas Electric for 15 years, as a heavy equipment operator for Martin County for five years and had farmed for 55-plus years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Stanton.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Franks of Stanton; two sons, George Franks of Greenwood and James Franks of Stanton; two sisters, Ila Merle North of Crane and Bessie Guthrie of Midland; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Alfred was preceded in death by one son, Gerald Franks; his parents, J.M. Sr, and Florence (Manuel) Franks; four brothers, Ruphert, Joe, Bill and J.M. Jr.; and three sisters, Ruthie, Opal and Myrtle.
