Angel Tree apps to be accepted starting Monday

Local Salvation Army officials are gearing up for their annual Angel Tree drive.

The campaign, which encourages residents to give clothing and toys to children of low-income during the holiday season, will begin when the SA starts accepting applications Monday.

Ada Lafler of the local SA said the agency will accept applications from qualifying families at the local headquarters, located at 811 W. Fifth.

Application hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. through the week.

Families will need to provide a photo identification, birth certificate or Medicaid card for the child, verification of income and expenses and clothing sizes for each child under the age of 13.

Once the child is accepted into the program, their name will be written on a card placed on one of the Angel Trees which will be located throughout Big Spring in the coming few weeks.
