Annual triathlon Saturday

September 9, 2011

Triathletes will give it their best Saturday at the Comanche Warrior Triathlon.

The fourth annual triathlon will begin at 8 a.m., following a 7:30 a.m. pre-race meeting. The course will consist of a 500-meter open water swim, an 18.6-mile bike ride on Wasson Road and a 5k run through Comanche Trail Park.

Advance registration can be conducted at Dora Roberts Community Center from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Early registration is $55 per individual or $100 per team — teams can consist of up to three people. Late registration, which can be made at Comanche Trail Park from 6 a.m. until 7:15 a.m. Saturday, will be $60 per individual and $120 per team.

Debbie Wegman, Convention and Visitors Bureau director, said there have been about 120 participants in previous years. So far, 60 have registered for this year's triathlon, but she is expecting more to register the day of the event.
