Apolonio 'Hoppy' Hernandez

Apolonio “Hoppy” Hernandez, 77, of Big Spring died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
He was born Dec. 28, 1934, in Coahoma, Texas, to Leonor and Antonio Hernandez. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer and was a lifetime resident of Howard County. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Josie Hernandez of Big Spring; five sons, Domingo Hernandez, Reynaldo Hernandez, Rafael Hernandez and wife Irene, Antonio Hernandez and wife Christy and Jaime Hernandez, all of Big Spring; 11 grandchildren; three brothers, Arturo Hernandez and wife Linda and Igancio Hernandez and wife Olga, all of Big Spring, and Jose Hernandez and wife Helen of Coahoma; and one sister, Juanita Torres of Coahoma.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Joanna Hernandez; one sister, Santiaga Ramirez; and four brothers, Manuel, Willie, Emelio and Julio Hernandez.
