Appointment highlights county agenda

November 11, 2013

An appointment to the 911 Communications District board of directors is expected to highlight a routine meeting of the Howard County Commissioners Court Tuesday.

The meeting will convene at 10 a.m. Tuesday on the third floor of the county courthouse.

Howard County has two representatives, each of whom serve two-year terms, on the board. Also, the cities of Big Spring, Coahoma and Forsan all name representatives to the body.

The board seat commissioners will fill is currently held by Melinda Hernandez, who has indicated she would be willing to serve another term, 911 District Director Tommy Sullivan said.

The board is charged with oversight of the 911 district. In that capacity, board members set the district's annual budget and secure the equipment and manpower necessary for normal operations, Sullivan said.
