Aquatic center opens Saturday

June 15, 2011

The time has come to make that first splash in to the new aquatic center at Comanche Trail Park.

The 43rd annual Splash In at the Big Spring Aquatic Center will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

“After months of anticipation, the day is finally here and we are excited for the grand opening of the aquatic center to the public,” said Debbie Wegman, Big Spring Convention and Visitors Bureau director.

The new aquatic center will take the place of the old swimming pool, which had been shut down for a variety of reasons, including age and inability to meet ADA requirements. T

he new facility features water slides, a lazy river, splash area and a leisure pool. There are also pavilions and a concession stand. During the splash in, admission will be free and the concession stands will be open for food and drink purchases.
