Area students honored by Optimists

Eight area students received a major pat on the back as they were named winners of the Big Spring Optimist Club's annual Outstanding Student Awards.

DeAnna Clare and Andrew Fillingim of Big Spring High School, Rachel Kennedy and Brayden Iden of Coahoma High School, Regan Newsom and Zane Herrin of Forsan High School and Morgan Yarbrough and Blak Thomasson of Sands High School were named winners of the awards, club officials announced.

To be considered for the award, students must excel in the areas of academics, extra-curricular activities and community service.
