Aristeo Hernandez, 81, of Big Spring died Monday, July 30, 2012, at his residence. Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Msgr. Bernard L. Gully officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olive Memorial Park.

He was born Sept. 3, 1930, in Big Spring, Texas, to Guerrma and Valente Hernandez. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring. He was a custodian at Goliad School and College Baptist Church. He married Ofilia Rodriquez on June 29, 1952, in Big Spring. She preceded him in death May 2, 2003.

He is survived by one son, Raul Hernandez and wife Ruth of Big Spring; three daughters, Anita Ybarra of Loveland, Colo., Nora Torres and husband Joe and Christina Lopez and husband Ramon, all of Big Spring; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jesus Hernandez and wife Viola of Midland and Jabor Hernandez and wife Josie of Midland; three sisters, Alicia Monje of Mansfield, Lucilia Garcia of San Antonio and Olivia Martinez and husband Alfredo of Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ofilia Hernandez; a daughter, Gloria Hernandez in 2010; a son, Freddie Hernandez in 1964; three brothers; and two sisters.
