Art students earn medals at regional meet

March 1, 2011

Saturday, 11 Big Spring High School Art students competed in the Visual Arts Scholastic Event held at Odessa Permian High School. All 11 students received regional medals for their artworks.

Out of 265 entries in Regional 18, only 12 were chosen to advance to state. Though none were from Big Spring, Art Instructor Judy Tereletsky said she was extremely proud of her students' accomplishments.

“This event is very challenging and more than 24,000 works are judged at the Regional level across the state,” Tereletsky said. “Only 8 percent of the submitted works advance to the state event held in Houston.”
