Artha Lee Gibbs

Artha Lee Gibbs, 64, of Big Spring, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Holston Banks Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.

He was born Dec. 6, 1946, in Bryan, Texas and married Betty Johnson Dec. 14, 1979 in Big Spring. They moved to Big Spring in 1991 from Bryan, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Gibbs of Big Spring; one son, Brodrick Gibbs of Dallas; five brothers, Willie Gibbs and wife, Matta of Post, Marvin Gibbs and Freddie Gibbs, both of Bryan, James Gibbs and wife, Mickey of Big Spring, and Albert Lott and wife, Hinda of Brenham; one sister, Linda Gibbs of Bryan; three sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Artha was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Edna (Dupree) Gibbs; two brothers, Bobby Gibbs and Tollie Ponda; one sister, Edna Spark; and his mother-in-law, Mae Bell Johnson.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Carolyn Brooks, P.O. Box 2121, Big Spring, Texas 79721-2121.
