He tried really hard to arrive on New Year’s Day, but just missed the mark.

Cash Wallis, son of Mary and Stephen Wallis of Big Spring, became Howard County's first baby of 2011 when he was born at 12:58 a.m. Sunday at Scenic Mountain Medical Center (SMMC).

Weighing in at a healthy 7 pounds, 8 ounces, and measuring 20 inches long, baby Cash will be welcomed home by his two big brothers, Colten and Cade.

Family Medical Center’s Dr. Keith Ledford delivered this much-anticipated holiday gift, with pediatrician Dr. Joseph Chavez helping to ensure he has a healthy start.
