Barbara Begley, 71, of Big Spring died Monday, April 9, 2012, at her residence. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012, at Myers & Smith Chapel with James Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.

She was born June 20, 1940, in Saul, Ky., to Della Rice Morris and Hiram Morris. She married James R. Begley on Oct. 22, 1957, in Underwood, Ind. They first came to Big Spring in 1959 to Webb Air Force Base. They returned to Big Spring in 1978 when her husband retired. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She is survived by her husband, James Begley of Big Spring; two daughters, Rebecca Eckert and husband Fred of Lomax, and Sheila Ward and husband Billy of Big Spring; a son-in-law, Billy Hardin of Lovington; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Granville Morris and wife Lily of Austin, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Brenda Hardin on April 5, 2012; and eight brothers and sisters.
