Barbara Blackshear, 73, of Big Spring died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at her residence. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Memorial Park.
Barbara was born May 20, 1939, in Valley Head, W. Va. She graduated from Channing High School in 1957. Barbara married Bobby Blackshear on Dec. 30, 1958, in Channing. She was a homemaker and a member of College Baptist Church.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Bobby Joe Blackshear of Big Spring; one daughter, Natalie McDonald of Austin; two granddaughters, Marissa McDonald and Melanie McDonald, both of Austin; one great-grandson, Christian Ceniseros of Austin; five sisters, Karen Mason of Muleshoe, Diane Marple of Langlois, Ore., Sandy Todd of Sixes, Ore., Betty Rodgers of Paulden, Ariz. and Alene Lamkin of Anchorage, Alaska; and two brothers: Arval Marple of Langlois, Ore. and Kemper Marple of Chubbuck, Idaho.
Barbara was preceded in death by her son, David Blackshear; her granddaughter, Christina McDonald; parents, Arden and Lura Marple; brother, Buren Marple; sister, Mildred Wright; and son-in-law, Pete McDonald.
