Snyder rounded out the top three with a score of 312.Leading the Steers were Devin Roberson and Tate Kennedy who each shot 73. Ryan Pollard scored a 77, Jason Guevara shot a 78 and Tyler Bryan shot a 79.“I'm very, very proud of these guys,” said BSHS Golf Coach Chris Joslin. “We competed and took care of business. We started off slow, but turned it around.”Roberson and Kennedy are tied for second place in the medalist standings. Pollard is tied for fifth, Guevara seventh and Bryan tenth.Wylie's Taylor Grant is currently in first place after shooting a 71.The next leg of district will take place at Maxwell Golf Course in Abilene on Friday and will conclude in Monahans the following Tuesday. It's a tough district, but for now, Joslin is confident.“We feel like we are the better team in district,” he said. “But there are two other teams who are good as well. We talked about getting off to a good start and the guys have done that. There's a lot of expectations this year, but they still have to go out and perform. I think these five guys can compete at anything though. It's just how they are.”The BSHS golfers are also familiar with Maxwell Golf Course.“We played well there during district last year,” Joslin said. “About four weeks ago, we shot our lowest score there in years, a 293.”Big Spring's second team — comprised of Mikael Pappajohn (87), Tobyn Tannehill (95), Matt Davila (106), Tobey Cotton (122) and Sam Harris (NS), shot a combined 410 and finished in 12th place.
