Big Spring Little League now holding sign-ups

January 31, 2013

Big Spring Little League registrations are now open.

Big Spring Little League is now holding open registrations for all age groups. The league — which is the largest per capita in the United States with over 670 participants last year — has undergone some minor changes this season.

The age range has been expanded to 4-16 years. Previously, the cut-off was 15 years old. There will also be a new division for 13-year-old kids.

“This will be the first year our league will allow 16-year olds to play,” said Robert Smith, President of the BSLL. “We will also have the new division for 13year olds, which will help them transition to the larger fields.”

The cost is $80 per child and several divisions are available, including T-ball.

You can sign up for the league at the Big Spring Mall on Saturday, Feb. 2, Saturday, Feb. 9 and Sat. Feb. 16. from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Weekday registrations will be held at the mall from Feb. 11-15 (Mon.-Fri.), from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

A birth certificate for each child is required at the time of enrollment.
According to Smith, fun is always the league’s focus.

“Baseball is considered Americana,” Smith added. “Most parents are familiar with Little League and it’s a good sport to keep kids active during the summer. It’s the love of the game, come join in the fun.”
