Big Spring Rotary Club to sponsor putt-putt fund-raiser

April 18, 2011

Calling all grandparents, grandchildren, parents and kids.

The Big Spring Rotary Club is having its first putt-putt tournament to benefit PolioPlus. The tournament is set for April 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Park and Putt Family Fun Center, located on South U.S. Highway 87.

PolioPlus is a humanitarian program launched by Rotary International, aimed at ridding the world of polio. A percentage of the proceeds raised from the tournament will be donated to the program. “We were looking for a fun event that the entire family could take part in,” said Dathan Jones, Rotary board member.

Registration is $18 per person and includes a t-shirt. Jones said that since this is a fundraising event, the cost is the same for all participants no matter the age.

“Everyone is bound to have a good time,” Jones said. “We won't be keeping score. It will just be about taking part in a fun event.”

There will be door prizes, food and drinks during the tournament.
Those wanting to purchase tickets early can go by the YMCA at 801 Owens. For more information, contact Jones at 267-8234.
