Big Spring students qualify for Region I contest

Big Spring High School will send a dozen or more students to University Interscholastic League Region I Academic Contest, set for April 15-16 on the Texas Tech University campus.Students advanced from the District 5-3A contest last week.

Among those qualifying for regional competition were Mindy Ralston in headline writing and ready writing, Lancy McMurtrey in literary criticism and ready writing, Jessica Rubio in Lincoln-Douglas Debate and persuasive speaking, Shermila Kher in Lincoln-Douglas Debate and informative speaking, Charles Anderson in computer applications, Chelsey Parker and Forrest McJunkin in informative speaking, Ricky Shubert in news writing, David Rios in poetry interpretation, Kym Gonzales in prose interpretation and Connor Furqueron in ready writing. Seth Trevino will serve as an alternate in persuasive speaking.
