Bill introduced to rename VA Medical Center

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, introduced legislation Thursday to rename the VA Medical Center at Big Spring as the “George H. O’Brien Jr. Medical Center.”
O’Brien was a U.S. Marine Corps officer who received the Medal of Honor, the highest military decoration in the country, for his actions in the Korean War.
“For 60 years, veterans have been coming to Big Spring VA for their health care needs. Today (Thursday), I introduced legislation to honor another veteran who many of them knew personally, and someone who all of them respected: George H. O’Brien, the only Medal of Honor recipient from Big Spring," Cornyn said.

Renaming the Medical center to someone who has done honorable military deeds is a show of respect and appreciation for people our veterans who have risked their lives saving us and the history. But it is up to the legislator if they see renaming it according to the name O'Brien would be sufficient.
