Billie Dunn 'lawyers up' after arrest

March 23, 2011

COLORADO CITY — Billie Dunn, mother of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn, hired a lawyer Monday after being charged with hindering police investigators and possession of drugs.

Despite earlier reports by various news outlets that Dunn would no longer be speaking directly to the media regarding the ongoing missing-person case, the woman's attorney — John S. Young, based out of Sweetwater — said she will continue to discuss her daughter's disappearance, as long as legal counsel was present.

Young told Abilene-based KTXS Channel 12 he believes she should have sought legal counsel before now because she was greatly unprepared for all the media attention.

"There were several times during the investigation that I wished she'd had a lawyer," Young said.
