Billy Bob Spier, 61, of Lizella, Ga. went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 27, 2012, at his home. Born Jan. 29, 1951 in Big Spring, Texas, he was the son of the late Billy R. and Bobbie V. Spier. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1969, and attended Texas Tech University.
He had a long federal career, starting with the U.S. Army in Stuttgart, West Germany, followed by civilian service at Robins Air Force Base, Ga., Office of Personnel Management, and the U.S. Postal Service. For 32 years, he was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Macon, GA.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lori; three daughters, Kristine Spier Thomason of Macon, Katie Spier of Chamblee, and Karla Spier of Savannah; two grandchildren, Felicia and Kristopher Thomason of Macon; brother Dick Spier of Cameron, Texas; and sisters Peggy Bethell of Cameron, Texas, and Patti Purser of Midland, Texas.
The Spier family would like to express extreme gratitude to Dr. Cheryl Jones, Jeff, Kathy, Anita, â€śMs. Slappyâ€ť and all the staff at the Georgia Cancer Specialists Center in Macon, Ga. for their wonderful caring and expertise. Also, a special thanks to the Big Spring High School Class of 1969 Exes for their genuine support over the last year.
