Billy Joe Burleson, 55, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at Myers & Smith Chapel with Jerome McNally, pastor of New Life Ministries Church of God in Christ, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Hamlin East Cemetery in Hamlin, Texas.
He was born July 24, 1956, in Hamlin, Texas, to Rosie Lee and James Burleson. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in road construction. He moved to Big Spring in 1990 from Hamlin. He was a member of Christ Community Fellowship.
He is survived by one daughter, Shanna Snow of Abilene; four brothers, Isaiah Edwards and wife Charlene Rushin, Carl Burleson and wife Margaret and Robert Burleson and wife Carol, all of Big Spring and Zachary Burleson and wife Sabrina of Abilene; three sisters, Joy Ann Hagan and husband Kofi of Atlanta, Ga., Rosemary Burleson of Abilene and Betty Burleson of Kansas City, Mo.; two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Lee Burleson and Terry Burleson; and two sisters, Gloria Inez Burleson and Bobby Jean Jefferson.
