Birdwell Baptist bests all bowlers

July 27, 2011

John and Diana Dodd, proprietors’ of Big Spring Bowl-A-Rama, presented a $500.00 check to Pastor Rob Dalsing and the members of Birdwell Lane Baptist Team for capturing the crown as League Champions at the bowling alley recently.

During the entire 10 week event, despite being in 5th place at the end of week three, with only seven weeks remaining, they never became discouraged or lost their positive attitude of “we can do it”.Asit turned out, they were right.

By week six, they had climbed to the number one position and held the top spot from that point forward, fighting off a strong upset effort by the 14th & Main Church of Christ team on the final night of league play.
The 14th and Main Church of Christ team, which consists of Patsy and Claud Fryar, Jimmie Wood and James Riley, was forced to settle for a second place finish.

Betty Gibson, Jane Reed, Vaughn Martin and Paul Johnson, members of the First Baptist Church team, also competed strong and ended their season in the third place.

Throughout the league, members of various ages from Gateway Baptist, Trinity Baptist, Church of Christ, First Baptist, Holy Trinity Catholic, Baptist Temple, Life Church and Birdwell Lane Baptist said they enjoyed lots of fun and laughter, along with a little friendly competition, all for a very worthwhile cause.
