Blake Edward Hogue

May 15, 2013

Blake Edward Hogue of Odessa unexpectedly left his temporary home much too soon to meet his mother in Heaven on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the age of 22. He was at home with his faithful best friend, Buddy.

Blake was born in Odessa, Texas, to Bobby Joe Hogue and Susan Kathleen Weeks on July 2, 1990.

Blake was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Kathleen Weeks; his grandfathers, John Edward Reese and VL Hogue; his grandmother, Alice Lazelle Reese; and his great-grandfather Herman Shifflett.

Left here to carry his memory are his father and stepmother, Bobby Hogue and Sarah Graves; brother, Bruce Lee Weeks; sisters, Kayla Lazelle Weeks and Ashley Rimer; grandmother, Frances Trotter; great-grandmother, Pearl Shifflett; aunt, Donna Kay Reese; niece, Shawnda; nephews, Brandon, Kadyn, Trystan, Jackson, Ethan and Dawson; and his best friend and faithful companion, Buddy. Blake also leaves behind numerous cousins and good friends. His family and friends will miss his smile and quick wit.

Blake grew up in Odessa and Lake Ivie. Growing up, he had a great love for hunting and fishing. During hunting season he filled the freezer with plenty of meat and took great pride in his cooking skills. He loved to fire up the barbecue pit and cook for everyone. Blake was all “boy.” In school, he played sports but didn’t sign up for just one sport. He wanted to play them all. Football was his favorite but he played basketball and soccer as well. He was a free-spirited child and loved to joke around and be silly. Not many pictures were taken when he didn’t have a smile from ear to ear. Later, Blake worked in the oilfield and enjoyed climbing to the top of the derrick. He wanted to be able to see as much of Texas as he could and the higher he climbed … the more he could see. We will miss his bright smile and his loving heart.
