 The Astros claimed a Major League championship to wrap up the 2009 Big Spring Little League season Friday with a 10-0 run-rule victory over the Yankees. They got to that point by overcoming a 5-3 sixth inning deficit to defeat the Yankees, 7-5, Thursday, forcing a second and decisive game. The Astros finished the regular season with a 10-2 record and were ranked second in the standings behind only the Yankees. Starting from the bottom row and going left to right, the Astros are: Joshua Baker, Wade Alexander, Blaze Yater, Tyler Nairn, Joshua Gutierrez, Bryson Burt, (top row) Francisco Rodriguez, Garrett Kligora, Jonathan White, Dylan Ross, Matthew Yanez, David Gonzales, (back row) Coach Bryan Kligora and Coach Mike Nairn. Not pictured are coaches Ed Ross and Rudy Gutierrez.

Forsan’s Jeremy Robbins (left center) recently signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Lubbock Christian University. Robbins helped lead Forsan to the Class A, Region I semifinals this season with a 25-4 record. He was the team’s leading scorer.
