Bob Horn

Bob Horn, 83, of Coahoma died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at the Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard, Texas.
Bob was born April 5, 1929, in Hill County, Texas, where he grew up and attended Hubbard High School. He joined the United States Army in 1947, returning to West Texas in 1951, where he started a lifetime career in the oil field.
After marrying, he and his family moved to Sweetwater in 1957 with Sinclair Oil Company. In Sweetwater, Bob also farmed and ranched and was a judge at the AJRA rodeo for several years. In 1967, the family moved to Big Spring.
Mr. Horn retired as a production superintendent with Atlantic Richfield Oil Company in Coahoma in 1984. Upon retirement, Bob contributed his services to the Howard County Tax Board. He remained active for many years in community service through the Masonic Lodge of Coahoma. He was a member and helped build the Central Baptist Church in Elbow, where he attended for many years. He was most recently a member of Berea Baptist Church in Big Spring.
Throughout his life, Bob was known for his wonderful sense-of-humor, practical jokes, enduring love for children and a devotion to his friends and family.
Survivors include one son, Darrell Horn and wife Priscilla of Bedford; one daughter, Lynelle Thomas and husband Charlie of Big Spring; three grandsons, Travis, Blake and Dylan Thomas; two granddaughters, Rachel Gardner and Sarah West; two great-grandchildren Caden and Presleigh West; and one sister, Carmelita Clark.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Elwin Horn.
