Bobby Cordova, 58, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, Sept.18, 2013, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 5 p,m, until 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Vigil and memorial services will follow at 7:30 p.m. at Myers & Smith Chapel. Additional services and burial will be in Logan, N.M., on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013.
Bobby was born April 22, 1955, to Adela and Julian Cordova Sr. of Logan, N.M. He graduated from Logan High School in 1973. He joined the United States Army where he was stationed in Lawton, Okla., and served four years in Germany. He worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Amarillo where he met his wife, JoAnne Campos, of 34 years. They were married Feb. 24, 1979, in Amarillo. He later transferred to Saginaw, Mich., where he worked for as chief of EMS for the VA Hospital for more than two years. He then transferred to Big Spring and worked for the VA Hospital before retiring in 2011. After his retirement from the VA Hospital, he worked for Price Construction as a load operator for the last two years.
Bobby was loved by many and made such an impact on so many lives. He was very kind, generous and always willing to help others. He was a great mentor. He loved playing golf, Bar-B-Q's and spending time with his family and friends. He loved his Pittsburgh Steelers!
He is survived by his wife, JoAnne of Big Spring; one son, Jacob Cordova of Big Spring; two daughters, Rachael Cordova of Big Spring and Jessenia Ybarra of Lovington, N.M.; his mother, Adela Cordova of Logan N.M.; four brothers, Julian Cordova Jr. and wife Estella of Logan, Tommy Cordova of Albuquerque, Wilfred Cordova of Amarillo and Leo Cordova and wife Terri of Dalhart; and one sister, Arlin Cordova of Logan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Julian Cordova Sr. of Logan ;and two sisters, Ida Martinez of Clovis and Rebecca Cordova also of Logan.
