Boby J. Barnes, 75, of Big Spring, Texas passed quietly from this world at his home on Thursday, May 30, 2013.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Spring Creek Fellowship in Big Spring with Pastor Derrick Looney officiating.
He was born Sept. 22, 1937, to Roy N. Barnes and Emma R. Ferguson in Midland, Ark., and was the youngest of six. He served in the U.S. Navy.
He married Nina F. York on Feb. 18, 1961, in Big Spring, moved to El Paso, Texas, in 1965 and lived there until returning to Big Spring in 1998.
He worked 22 years for Trailways Bus Lines and retired from Greyhound Bus Lines. He was an independent truck driver for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nina; daughters, Connie Schooler and husband Kevan of Big Spring and Kathy Mason and husband Steve of Syracuse, NY; grandsons, Scott Mason of Endicott, NY and Ryan Mason of King Bay, Va.; granddaughters, Leela Schooler and Emmalee Schooler of Big Spring; sisters, Pat Belki of Jacksonville, Ala., and Bonnie Cody and husband Jim of Reno, Nev.; a brother, Troy Barnes and wife Frankie of Canutillo, Texas; sister-in-law, Margaret Beck of Big Spring; brother-in-law, Wayne York and wife Kathy of Snyder; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, whom he loved like a mother, Nell Kupper of Big Spring, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers William A. Barnes and Carl H. Barnes.
The family would like to thank In-Home Health Care and Compass Hospice for taking such loving care of Boby and the family during his illness.
