Bookworms, your help is needed for annual sale at county library

September 3, 2013

With the annual Friends of the Howard County Library book sale three weeks away, the group is still soliciting books to sell at the event.

The annual sale will be held Sept. 20-22 at the library, located at 500 Main St.

“If you have books in good condition you wish to donate to this worthwhile cause, please take them to the library Monday through Saturday during regular hours” said Ruth Ann McKay, publicity chairman for the Friends of the Library. “Please, no National Geographic magazines, other magazines or condensed books.”

Books of all categories are needed and will be priced according to size, age and value.

Current hardcover fiction and non-fiction less than a year old will be $5, those more than a year old will be $4. Paperbacks will run anywhere from $1 to 50 cents, depending on size and age.

Large coffee table and art books will be priced as marked.

Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization which provides supplemental support to the library outside the budget furnished by Howard County.

“One of the projects we support is the library's summer reading program,” McKay said. “Our assistance is not possible without the generosity and cooperation of the wonderful people of this county.”

For more information on the book sale, contact the library at 264-2260.
